Manages the Enterprise Data Warehouse & Data Analytics functions focusing on the effort to create and mature the client’s use of data to make informed decisions. Delivers data solutions and provides services on data related initiatives. Ensures the solutions being developed support the target data architecture direction across multiple strategic enterprise initiatives.
As a hands-on technical manager, you will contribute to the solutions your team develops. Leads and mentors Data Engineers and Data Analysts to ensure that designs and approaches proposed match the overarching target data and analytics architectures. Manages Analytic platform development, implementation, roadmaps, vendor relationships and on-going support.

Essential Job Functions
- Acts as the senior Data Leader for assigned company analytic initiatives. Organizes the data architecture effort and acts as the senior technical person on complex and critical projects.
- Leads a team to deliver data architecture and analytic services. Directs, coaches, and mentors staff to ensure engagement and productivity levels are maintained; sets clear objectives and compares deliverables against objectives; provides regular and consistent feedback and communication throughout the year, during goal setting, follow-up sessions and performance reviews.
- Oversees, directs, and/or provides consultation on data technology implementations and improvement activities for projects or high impact work activities that span multiple business units, software development teams, and system platforms.
- Collaborates with Enterprise Architecture on data and data architectural decisions to ensure solutions are designed for successful implementation within the vision of the data architecture and analytics infrastructure.
- Leads technical discussions with vendors and provides input regarding technical considerations of all data analytics related system decisions.
- Sets direction and standards for use by Data Architects, Data Engineers, Data Analytic developers, and Data Analysts to promote repeatable successful projects.
- Analyzes current and emerging trends in business and technology to develop the target data architecture / data warehouse / data analytics future state.
- Ensures team follows defined development processes throughout product lifecycle to achieve delivery dates on time with quality.
- Acts as a conduit and liaison between customers, business intelligence analysts, business intelligence developers, data engineers and data analysts to develop business value from our data.
- Educates enterprise customers on the value proposition of effective data and analytical solutions.
- Abides by all company security policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
This job requires a background that demonstrates the following minimum knowledge, skills, talents, and traits:
- Bachelor’s degree or at least six years of experience in a sophisticated multiple vendor data systems environment.
- Five or more years’ experience in a technical (hands-on) SQL DBA, Data Architect or reporting development leadership role.
- Expert level knowledge of SQL Server, SQL Data Architectures, and best practices.
- Senior-level development skills and experience with T-SQL, SSIS, SQL Job scripting and performance tuning.
- Solid understanding of Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, SQL Server Reporting Services, Data Modeling, Data Architecture, SQL Analytical Service design patterns, PowerBI Platform, and ETL/ELT strategies.
- Solid experience and knowledge of building and implementing databases, analytics solutions and cloud data storage that supports formation of Data Lakes and Data Warehouses.
- Experience with PowerBI, Crystal Reports Development, Tableau or other BI solutions required.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team of professionals capable of achieving aggressive business goals and objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to grasp new concepts quickly and have the desire to learn new skills.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are a must as is the ability to embrace change in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and be able to manage multiple project deadlines.
- High level of IT & Data Security awareness.
- Demonstrated vendor management skills.
- Engages well with others and passionate about providing an exemplary customer experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the insurance/financial services industry.
- Microsoft Azure Certified in multiple disciplines.
- Broad multi-platform, multi-technology development experience.
