Full Time Remote
The Enterprise Architect (EA) is an experienced and forward-thinking technology professional who envisions, evolves, continuously improves, and communicates the enterprise-wide architecture strategy. The EA ensures the strategy is built to align technology products and services with business objectives and that these products and services are built, delivered, and governed in a way that maximizes their value to the company.
Key responsibilities: Architecture Design
- Design, implement, document, and maintain a scalable and robust technology architecture framework that ensures business and technology alignment
- Establish and evolve standards and architectures for system and data security, quality, production infrastructure, and Nonfunctional Requirements (NFRs). These include internal standards as well as external standards such as TOGAF, Zachman, etc.
- Provide consultation and education to architects and engineers regarding the architecture framework
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key business leaders, seeking to understand their challenges and how technologies can help address those opportunities
- Foster a collaborative culture and actively engage with architects and engineers to ensure design choices are made with an understanding of business objectives, the overall architectural strategy, roadmaps, governance, and frameworks
- Develop and maintain relationships with technology strategy personnel at key vendors
- Communicate vision and technology strategies to non-technical stakeholders
- Engage in financial and administrative activities such as budget estimating, project resource estimating, and RFP\RFI evaluation
- Mentor and help develop other architects and engineers
- Develop and maintain processes to guide and promote adherence to technology and security standards/policies
- Chair relevant governance groups & boards to provide oversight of planning and design processes
- Lead technical modernization and application rationalization efforts to improve efficiency, minimize technology complexity, and avoid unnecessary duplication of capabilities or solutions to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) resulting from overspending on license costs, hardware, networking, or technologies that are no longer fit for purpose
- Identify and mitigate technology related risks by conducting thorough impact assessments and guiding the organization to implement appropriate risk management strategies
- Lead the process of selecting appropriate technologies to ensure the business invests in the right systems and services to support current and future business needs. This includes research and prototyping, understanding applicability and scope and assessing the maturity of innovative new technologies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field; 10 years of proven experience as an EA or a similar role in an enterprise-class environment OR a combination of education and experience that enables the candidate to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
- Progressive growth of role and increased responsibility throughout career
- Deep technical knowledge in areas such as cloud, virtualization, client/server, service-oriented architecture (SOA) environment, software development, data, networking, middleware, storage, data management, infrastructure, and emerging technologies
- Excellent understanding of business strategy and the ability to align technology solutions accordingly
- Experience producing and driving Enterprise Architecture concepts, roadmaps, principles, and strategies across an organization
- Broad knowledge of business processes including service portfolio management, finance, asset management, high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, and risk management
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills that enable productive and positive interactions with business and technical leaders at all levels of the organization
Desired:
- Master’s degree
- Certifications in relative technologies and enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)
- Experience working in a utility
- Familiarity with industry specific regulations and compliance standards
- Experience working in a mixed Agile/Waterfall environment
