Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance lead to establish, mature, and drive an enterprise-wide data governance program. This individual will be responsible for developing the governance roadmap, promoting data ownership and stewardship, delivering training and change management initiatives, and ensuring data is treated as a strategic business asset across the organization.
This is a highly visible role that will partner closely with both business and technology stakeholders to build governance capabilities, improve data quality, strengthen accountability, and support emerging initiatives such as AI and advanced analytics. The ideal candidate combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution and has experience building governance programs in environments where governance practices are still evolving.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve the enterprise Data Governance program, including governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating procedures.
- Drive adoption of data ownership and stewardship practices across business functions.
- Establish accountability for data management and governance activities at the domain level.
- Oversee data cataloging initiatives to improve discoverability, trust, and usability of enterprise data assets.
- Develop and scale data quality management processes, including monitoring, issue remediation, and governance controls.
- Partner with business, technology, security, compliance, and legal teams to ensure appropriate management and protection of critical data assets.
- Facilitate governance councils, working groups, and stakeholder forums to drive decision-making and policy adoption.
- Support data accessibility and self-service initiatives while maintaining appropriate governance controls.
- Develop and deliver data literacy and governance training programs.
- Lead, mentor, and potentially build a team of governance professionals.
- Align governance initiatives with broader business strategy, digital transformation efforts, and AI readiness objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business, or a related field.
- Significant experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Master Data Management, or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience implementing or leading governance programs, data catalog initiatives, and data quality frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence both technical and business audiences.
- Solid understanding of governance principles, data lifecycle management, metadata management, and data quality practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Quality.
- Experience with enterprise data catalog and governance platforms.
- Familiarity with modern data architectures, analytics ecosystems, and AI-enabled data strategies.
- Experience working within highly regulated or data-intensive industries.
